Algarve has 7 more cases of Covid-19

The Algarve has 7 new cases of Covid-19, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Thursday, July 2nd.

After registering 14 new cases yesterday, the numbers dropped today. The Algarve now has, in accumulated terms since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 639 infected.

As for the Alentejo, has 8 new cases, bringing the total to 499, as well as two new deaths.

At the national level, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic is 42,782, 328 more than yesterday.

As for deaths, there are eight more today than yesterday, bringing the cumulative total to 1587. Of these deaths, five were in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, one in the Center and two in the Alentejo.

Data from the epidemiological bulletin further indicate that, since yesterday and at the national level, there are over 299 recovered, bringing to 28,097 the total number of people who have already recovered from Covid-19.

Today this is the distribution of cases by region, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic: Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (19,656, plus 273), North (17,624, plus 39), Center (4121, without new cases), Algarve ( 639, plus 7), Alentejo (499, plus 8), Azores (151, plus 1) and Madeira (92, with no new cases).

In the country’s hospitals, 510 people are currently hospitalized, 7 more than yesterday, 77 of whom are in intensive care (minus 2).

Also according to the epidemiological bulletin, there are 1380 people awaiting laboratory results and 31,274 contacts under surveillance by health authorities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, there have been a total of 384,973 suspected cases, but 340,811 of them have not been confirmed.
