TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Brain or spinal cord tumors often have no subtle symptoms.
However, according to a Neurosurgeon Specialist, Dr. Jeremia Prastya Pardede SpBS, the symptoms that often appear are: headache and seizures.
Then Dr. Jeremia also mentioned that there are several things to watch out for. One of them headache and convulsions.
“Well, if for example a seizure, if there are family members who have seizures in our teens and 20 years and the first seizure, when I was a child, 6 months ago I didn’t have a seizure. So he also suggested to do a laboratory examination. But so far headache specific for the tumor has not been found.
There’s just one thing to note. If headache the day, the heavier, then this could be a sign of the tumor getting bigger.
In addition, there are other symptoms that need to be taken into account, namely blurry eyes. Headaches, accompanied by blurry eyes that can’t be helped with glasses, most likely have something in the head.
Therefore, Dr. Jeremia emphasized not to underestimate some of the symptoms above. Because if left unchecked, then the symptoms will get worse.
“So don’t come with severe conditions. The results will be different, people with tumors, but when the complaints are still headache then get treatment. Compared to patients who come with severe conditions,” he said.
Even though they both had the same operation, the results would be different. One can recover completely. But for those with severe symptoms, it takes a long time. And the possibilities with limitations. Healed but not 100 percent.
“Similarly with the eyes, already blurry, or blind. Even though the tumor is operated on, blindness cannot be treated. Often patients come blind when they come,” he concluded.
He also suggested that if the eyes began to blur, immediately consult a professional. Do not delay and only come to the doctor when the symptoms are severe enough.
