Patients and care providers of the Ikazia Hospital have recently been able to have easy and secure digital contact. Just like other hospitals, the hospital in Zuid uses BeterDichtbij for this. “Before the corona crisis broke out, we already had plans in Ikazia to start with BeterDichtbij. Thanks to corona, we have accelerated the roll-out of this digital form of care, ”said director of patient care, Mr Foets.

In a very short time, the hospital in South Rotterdam has worked hard to make BeterDichtbij available to patients. During the corona crisis, this allowed regular care to continue as much as possible, but the hospital wants to continue to make this service available in the future.

With BeterDichtbij, people can easily send an app to their healthcare provider, submit a photo, securely share data with their own doctor or make video calls. At any time and wherever they are, simply via their own mobile phone. Healthcare providers personally invite their patients to this. For them, BeterDichtbij is a safe way to share information about, for example, the diagnosis or treatment, so that the patient can read it at home in peace.

The Diabetes Knowledge Center of the Rotterdam hospital was the first to start using BeterDichtbij. Diabetes nurse Marjolijn de Deugd: “We started this pilot with a clearly defined group, namely patients with gestational diabetes. The patients who downloaded the BeterDichtbij app are very enthusiastic. It is now so easy to exchange information. As a result, they sometimes have to come to Ikazia less often. ”

Easy contact with your own care providers

Several departments in Ikazia now offer their patients the digital service, including the pre-operative outpatient clinic, dietetics and neurology. Foets: “This autumn, more departments will be connected, so that eventually all outpatient clinics in our hospital can offer digital contact. In this way we can also provide our patients with the quality of care in their own home environment with the patient-oriented approach that they are used to from Ikazia. ”

Via BeterDichtbij, patients can talk to multiple care providers if necessary, including from other hospitals. “The Ikazia Hospital shows that it is a very patient-oriented hospital. It is great how quickly big steps have been taken, project management and care providers have really put their shoulders to the wheel, ”says Sander Bijl, co-founder and operational director of BeterDichtbij. “And it is great for all Rotterdammers that they can now easily contact their own care providers in all hospitals in their city and region.”
