Alarm about Netflix hype: ‘Children who lose at ‘Squid game’ game get hit in schoolyard’ | Abroad

The Netflix series ‘Squid game’ has reached the schoolyard, primary school Erquelinnes Béguinage warns on social media. And not in a good way. For example, the school reports that children play the – violent – games from the hit series on the playground. In the series, random passers-by find themselves in a survival game paid for by a small group of rich for entertainment. Whoever survives wins a credit card with millions of euros on it.

“Dear parents, you may have already heard of the Squid game series,” the school writes on Facebook. “In this series, the characters are forced to play children’s games and if they lose, they are eliminated. Because of the brutal violence, the series can only be viewed by people over 18.”

It turns out that children run off with parts from the series. “Our students clearly enjoy playing the games. However, they also take over the violent aspect, because the children who lose, get hit. As a school board, we make sure that this dangerous form of play is discontinued and count on your cooperation to make the children aware of the possible consequences.”

The school also said that “sanctions will follow” against the children who continue to use violence while playing. The school’s Facebook post has been shared thousands of times. Previously, fans of the series clashed in a long queue in front of a pop-up store in Paris.
