Alain Nicosia (CDJ Antibes / Juan-les-Pins) “Create a group and give it a soul” • Actufoot • Pro / amateur football news

There is now more than a month the CDJ Antibes and JS Juan-les-Pins announced a merger at the level of the 11-a-side football categories. And last week, the two clubs unveiled the name of their new Seniors coach ( D1), in the person of Alain Nicosia. The former coach of the N3 de Mandelieu therefore spoke about his new role and his ambitions for this new position. Maintenance.

Alain, after your departure from Mandelieu, you joined JS Juan-les-Pins. What was your role?

I was in charge of the sports section of Juan-Les-Pins. It’s like a study sport with classes set up from 6th to 3rd where the players have two more sessions per week. My role was above all to make them progress at the technical and mental level …

Last week, CDJ Antibes and JS Juan-les-Pins announced your assumption of duties at the head of the Seniors team for next season. What prompted you to take part in this project and this new position?

I had stopped in Mandelieu because I no longer had the possibility to take part in the project 100%. But over the weeks and months, I was clearly starting to miss this human adventure. It felt good to cut for a while, but when I heard about reconciliation it really interested me. Afterwards, people came to me to offer me the job and find out if I was interested. Anthony Crivelli, the coach of this season, wanted to take a step back from his role as a player as well. I found myself quite in the identity they want to give and I know the Antibes basin well. I really wanted to take part in this challenge and be part of the beginnings of this “agreement”. And I can’t wait to start bringing this project to fruition.

“Create efficient and coherent workforce”

To put it simply, did you miss the role of coach?

It’s a role that requires a lot of time and investment. Afterwards, it’s clear that being close to a group, trying to create a spirit, I missed it. It is really the human side that I wanted to find beyond the technique.

Tell us quickly about this merger.

Juan-les-Pins does not have a Senior team and is totally focused on young people. So this rapprochement will take place from the U14s to the Seniors. That is to say that the categories will merge together to create efficient and coherent workforce. The two clubs are currently working on the teams, the educators … In any case, the Covid period allows everything to be set up well for the coming season. What is certain is that we are not really setting ourselves a course to reach, but we will grow this project over the years to come. The goal is to achieve a total fusion at the end.

“Even among young people, we feel a demotivation …”

Do you think mergers and mergers will be the best solutions in the future? Especially with a period of economic difficulties.

I think this is clearly a solution for football to continue to grow even in the most difficult times. Whether it emanates from municipalities or clubs, it will take some to continue to perform, especially among young people.

What is your opinion on the situation of amateur football?

The situation is downright worse than last season… What I notice above all is the disinterest and the dropping out of many players. The period we are living is so complicated for some that I think there will be a lot of stoppages. There will be breakage and we will come out marked this year. Even among young people, we feel a demotivation … Especially with the curfew and confinement on weekends. They don’t know when they’re training, when they’re going to resume and all that makes a lot of kids feel weary.

“From there, I could start measuring my squad. “

Logically, we are heading towards a white season. Are you already focused on the one to come?

We’re going slowly. What I want is that the confinement is lifted as soon as possible so that the current CDJ team can resume training so that I can attend. From there, I could start measuring my roster. Strengths, weaknesses, see if there is any use in recruiting … I really hope that it will settle around mid-April to start taking part in training, possibly putting players to the test in order to form a group for the month of August.

Do you already have game plans in mind?

Not really. We can have football ideologies, but the game depends on the work done with the whole group. Afterwards, I have always been a fervent supporter of good play and possession. But will we really play like that, I can’t really know at the moment.

“When I have succeeded in my work on the human side, we will try to be as efficient as possible. “

What are your goals and ambitions within this new project?

My first objective will be to create a group and give it a soul by bringing everyone together. Afterwards, when I have succeeded in my work on the human side, we will try to be as efficient as possible. My mission will also be to make the whole group adhere to my project and restart the troops after this long stoppage. We will work a lot to get results even if we are still far from it. There is going to be a huge preparation for next season. I sail a little on sight but with ideas in mind.
