Alain Chanel, new president of blood donors

The association of blood donors of Montrevel-Malafretaz held its general assembly on Friday March 18 at the Malafretaz entertainment room.

Pierre Bardet had announced for quite some time that he would leave the presidency at the end of the assembly. Despite his fears, he was heard since Alain Chanel succeeds him. “20 years in the presidency, it’s huge and it’s not very common these days, underlined Gary Leroux mayor of the town. Volunteering is nevertheless a necessity for the smooth running of our associations. Congratulations for what you do.”

Declining donations

The moral report drawn up by Sylvette Michèle, the secretary, shows a regular drop in donations since 2019 when 233 samples were taken, 214 (10 new) in 2020, 193 (9 new) in 2021 for 5 collections. A recovery is announced however with 50 presented for 46 collected (1 new) during the first collection in March 2022. Jean-Paul Foray, the representative of the departmental union, underlined the importance of promotional actions: “Go and meet people, in associations, during demonstrations, even one-off. It’s an opportunity to get people talking about yourself”, he pointed out. Alain Piroux, representative of ADOT, insisted on the need for organ donation, but also bone marrow: “Too many people are on the waiting list. Sometimes a simple gesture can save a life.”

In 2022, three new collections are on the program, all on a Wednesday at the Montrevel village hall: May 18, August 10, November 30.
