Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Al-Ahly’s Chairman, received a consultation from his attending physician before heading the team’s mission to South Africa today, Sunday, to contest the return match in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Al-Khatib decided earlier to head the Al-Ahly mission to South Africa, given the importance of the match in the team’s career in the championship, which has been absent from the club’s treasures for 7 years.
The official website of Al-Ahly said that Al-Khatib made a phone call to the doctor treating him, in order to consult him about traveling to South Africa, in light of the continued suffering of the Al-Ahly president from some back pain.
Given the length of the trip to Johannesburg, which lasts approximately 8 hours, in addition to the time he needs to move from the capital, Johannesburg, to the city of Pretoria, where the match is taking place, the attending physician advised Al-Ahly to wear a medical belt throughout the trip to reduce back pain.
Al-Ahly will play the return match against the Sundowns next Saturday at Lucas Moribi’s stadium, after the Egyptian League champion won the first leg with two goals without a response.
