Al-Azhar Pavilion || The President’s Mental Health Adviser sends letters to parents to treat bullying

Al-Azhar Pavilion held at the Cairo International Book Fair, on Friday, a symposium entitled “Bullying and mental health”, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Okasha, President’s Mental Health Adviser and member of the Presidential Advisory Council.

Dr. Okasha said, the increasing incidence of bullying in many countries of the world during the past year was a global cry to save the new generations from the monster of destructive bullying, defining bullying as a recurring aggressive behavior with the intention of harming another person intentionally, physically and psychologically.

Okasha stressed that there is a strong link between bullying and suicide, as bullying leads to many suicides every year, and it is estimated that between 15 and 25 children commit suicide annually in Britain alone, pointing out that bullying does not have to involve criminality or physical violence. Bullying works through psychological abuse and verbal abuse.

“Okasha pointed out that bullying has many types, including bullying in the workplace, the internet, and bullying among members of society, in schools, universities, and places of education, praising the President’s interest and the theses and procedures that he directs to treat bullying and prevent all forms of bullying, stressing that he must Parents pay attention to raising their educational and psychological culture before dealing with their children, and that parents do not rely on randomness in treating their children if they discover bullying, sending several important messages for parents helping them in the treatment of bullying phenomenon in their children as well as stressing mental health within the family.

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif participates – for the fourth year in a row – with a special pavilion at the Cairo International Book Fair in its 51st session, on the basis of Al-Azhar’s educational and advocacy responsibility in spreading the enlightened and medieval Islamic thought that it adopted for more than a thousand years. The Al-Azhar booth at the exhibition is located in Heritage Hall No. 4, which extends over an area of ​​about a thousand meters, including several pillars, such as a seminar hall, a fatwa corner, an Al-Azhar panorama, a corner of Arabic calligraphy, as well as a children’s corner, activities and art workshops.
