Al Ain Folk Arts Days: Department of Culture and Tourism Event Draws Large Turnout

The second edition of the Popular Arts Days in Al Ain, organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, is witnessing a large turnout of visitors.

The events are held over three days, and are part of the department’s agenda and strategy to support popular and performing arts, shed light on these arts and their diversity, and create a cultural forum for its associations in the country and abroad.

Yasser Al Neyadi, community programs specialist at the department, said: “The “Folk Arts Days” event is part of the plan of cultural programs and events organized by the department in two locations, namely the Al Ain Palace Museum and Al Ain Oasis.”

He added: “The “Folk Arts Days” aim to create an artistic space that allows artistic associations concerned with folk arts and traditional performing groups to find their own platform to highlight and promote these arts among the children of this generation and young people and preserve them for future generations. The event also focuses on existing traditional performing and musical arts. In the country, such as the art of Al-Ayyala, Al-Rawah, Al-Nadba, Al-Wayliyya, Yula Al-Saif, Al-Aahla, Al-Nahim, Al-Malid, Al-Mankos, Al-Shalla, Al-Wuna, Al-Habban, and other arts that may share with the popular arts in the Gulf countries.

Al Neyadi explained that “the quality of participation in Al Ain Folk Arts Days is numerous, as Emirati arts participate in 15 performances, and the participating teams from the Sultanate of Oman and Bahrain present 10 types of diverse folk arts.” (wham)
