Ajax also played a practice match against Liverpool in December. The Amsterdam team organized this because the highest youth team failed to qualify for the Youth League. In order to still be challenged at international level, a big-name opponent was sought. The match in England was won 3-4 in December.

The opposition was a lot less on Wednesday. Ajax reached halftime with an 8-0 lead. The club did not play with players who have a direct prospect of playing minutes in the first team, but talents such as Dies Janse, Avery Appiah, Skye Vink (main photo) and Kayden Wolff already made their debut in professional football through Jong Ajax.

After Konadu’s early opening goal, there were seven more goals in the first half. Vink, Jan Faberski, Don O’Niel and Lucas Jetten were the other goalscorers in addition to Konadu’s four goals. In the second half, Rayane Bounida and Wolff showed themselves with goals, Bounida almost scored the best goal of the afternoon in the final phase through an effort with his heel, but that attempt was stopped by the keeper.

Ajax Under-18 is entering the second half of the season with a lot of confidence. In the first part of the season, the Amsterdam team finished second in the competition, six points behind winter champion AZ Under-18.
