Airlines hit hard by coronavirus crisis train manufacturer
Airbus in their wake. The aircraft manufacturer has decided to put 3,000 of its French employees on partial unemployment until May 17, the CFTC union told AFP.
The announcement of this measure, which concerns the industrial sites of Toulouse, Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, was made this Friday morning during an extraordinary central social and economic committee (CSE).
92% of net salary
Normally, part-time workers are compensated by the state up to 84% of their net salary. “But we have signed an agreement which allows each employee to be paid 92% of their net salary, including team bonuses, over the partial activity period and whatever their category,” said the CFTC.
This measure seems logical after the decision to reduce production rates on assembly lines by a third to meet requests for deferral of delivery from airlines whose fleets are nailed to the ground. It must also make it possible to facilitate the distancing between the “companions” who work on the chains and for whom teleworking is impossible.
The Airbus group employs 48,000 people in France. He already announced at the start of the health crisis that he was giving up paying the 2019 dividends to his shareholders.
Subcontractors in anxiety
In Toulouse, Airbus’s difficulties scare its subcontractors. The unions of the aeronautical equipment supplier Daher expressed their deep concerns on Friday concerning possible job cuts, up to 3,000 according to the CFDT within this subcontractor.
