AIRBUS employees start mobilizations in the Bay | Radio Cádiz

The workers of the Airbus factories in Puerto Real and El Puerto de Santa María are holding informational assemblies and rallies this morning at the doors of the centers demanding that they be considered strategic for the sector, so as to guarantee the survival of the jobs jobs and factories.

According to the committee, the European giant intends to lay off 1,600 of the 12,000 employees it has as a result of the market crash due to the cessation of activity caused by the coronavirus. In the case of Puerto Real, the factory had already been left in a situation of great weakness after the cancellation of the A380 model, which gave work to the plant.

The committees have already calculated the number of employees that may be affected in the case of the two factories in the bay. Pedro Miguel Sánchez Marmolejo, president of the works council of the CBC (Bahía de Cádiz Center) in El Puerto, explained to the SER that 286 direct jobs are now at risk. To this figure must be added the loss of jobs in the auxiliary sector

In the case of Puerto Real, the concentration will be today at 12:45. At the CBC of El Puerto, at ten in the morning, although informative meetings are scheduled in the three work shifts, throughout the day.

Similar events will also take place this morning in the rest of the Airbus centers in Tablada, Getafe, Illescas and Albacete.

The committees have also planned demonstrations to which the employees of the auxiliary companies will be called, together with the templates. All of them will take to the streets in a demonstration on the 23rd in Cádiz.
