The current record for the same type is 440 passengers, some carriers use it with less than 300 seats.
Cebu Pacific has taken over the first Airbus A330-900 aircraft from Airbus. So far, no other carrier has decided to cram as many people into a single plane as Philippine Airlines.
The aircraft, which some carriers occupy with less than 300 seats, was taken over by the airlines in a single-class version: economy. A total of 459 passengers can board the plane. The carrier has not yet published details about the interior except for one photo.
The carrier will break the record in the number of seats on the larger A330neo aircraft: the Indonesian Lion Air uses it for up to 440 passengers. Most carriers use the version for about 300 people, the fewest seats are in the same size Delta Air Lines: 281.
Cebu Pacific will deploy it on routes from the Philippines to Asia and Australia, with a total of 16 ordered. The carrier has announced that it will become the greenest airline in the region. It currently flies 43 A320 aircraft and seven A330ceo aircraft. They fly in a configuration for 436 passengers. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. Compared to the previous generation, the A330neo has a quarter lower consumption.
“By purchasing the A330neo, we want to reduce our aviation fuel emissions and build a more sustainable business. Thanks to this configuration, we will have the lowest seat costs and make the most of valuable airport slots in Manila and other Asian cities. ” said Lance Gokongwei, head of Cebu Pacific, when ordering.
The Filipino carrier uses the existing A330-300 model almost to the maximum. It has 436 seats, the maximum according to the manufacturer is 440 seats. Cebu Pacific will push the limits of the number of passengers in other aircraft as well: the A320neo model is ordered in a version for 194 passengers, so far no other carrier has so many seats on the same aircraft.
