A total of 1,235 patients recovered, twenty-six died of old age. The cumulative number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 increased to 28,937 in the region by 6 p.m. on Thursday. The number of people treated in southern Bohemia increased to 22,012 and the currently positive number decreased by 853 to 6,553. Since March, hygienists have verified a total of 372 deaths related to coronavirus.
From Wednesday to Thursday, laboratories received 953 suspected samples and 16 samples from self-payers for examination in the region. From the results of the examination, the hygienists confirmed 408 new positive cases by 6 pm on Thursday. The patients were joined by 204 women and 204 men. The most new cases were in the Tábor region (98), the České Budějovice region (83) and the Strakonice region (76). “In about ninety cases, the source of the infection was contact with a positive person in the family and in only one hundred and ten at work. Twenty medical staff and twenty-one clients or social workers became newly ill. Five people became infected while outside the region. In other cases, it has not yet been possible to determine the source of the infection. The number of healed is increasing, 6,553 South Bohemians are currently positive, which is the state we last had four weeks ago, “said Kvetoslava Kotrbová, Director of the Regional Hygiene Station of the South Bohemian Region (KHS).
Situation in districts
Of the current 6,553 active cases of COVID-19 in southern Bohemia, 1,637 are currently registered in the České Budějovice region, 1,097 in the Tábor region, 987 in the Jindřichův Hradec region, 923 in the Strakonice region, 871 in the Písek region, 580 in the Prachatice region and 458 in the Český Krumlov region. 372 patients died of coronavirus infection.
