According to the agency, the United States plans to transfer about 580 Phoenix Ghost UAVs to the APU fighters. Deliveries are scheduled to begin next month.
“Ukrainians are making excellent use of the Phoenix Ghost system. This allows us to obtain and contract additional capacity from manufacturers. And with Phoenix Ghost, we can ensure a stable supply of this potential,” a senior US official said.
What is known about Phoenix Ghost:
The Phoenix Ghost kamikaze drone can indeed be called secret, since even the manufacturing company Aevex Aerospace has not published the characteristics of this UAV.
According to the publication Defence Expressmore detailed information about the drone at various times was told by US press secretary John Kirby and retired Lieutenant General David Deptul, member of the Aevex board.
According to them, the drone has the following characteristics:
- designed to destroy targets with an average level of booking;
- compatible with Switchblade (kamikaze drone);
- can take off vertically;
- developed by order of the US Air Force;
- flight time – about 6 hours;
- equipped with an infrared camera.
At the same time, even taking into account the fact that about 120 Phoenix Ghosts are already at the disposal of Ukrainian troops, its appearance is still a secret.
