Men’s doubles Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan became the only Indonesian representative to qualify for the semifinals Arctic Open 2023 which will take place at the Vantaa Energia Arena, Finland, Saturday (14/10).
Ahsan/Hendra, who are the fifth seeds at the 2023 Arctic Open, won over the Czech Republic doubles Ondrej Kral/Adam Mendrek. The Daddies were forced to play three games 21-10, 19-21 and 21-10 by the men’s doubles who passed the qualifying round.
Ahsan/Hendra’s positive results were not followed by another Indonesian men’s doubles, Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan. Pram/Yere lost two straight games at the hands of representatives from Malaysia Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee 20-22 and 18-21.
These results make Ahsan/Hendra the only Indonesian representatives in the semifinals of the 2023 Arctic Open. In the last four, the Indonesian veteran doubles will face Denmark’s representatives.

This is the second time Ahsan/Hendra have faced a Danish pair at the 2023 Arctic Open. In the first round, Ahsan/Hendra managed to beat the Danish doubles Andreas Sondergaard/Jesper Toft.
Qualifying for the 2023 Arctic Open semifinals is the main target for Ahsan/Hendra. Ahsan/Hendra want to take advantage of the absence of a number of top pairs in the BWF Super 500 level tournament to go far in the 2023 Arctic Open.
“The absence of the top pairs makes me want to be able to enter the semifinals first in this tournament. To be able to improve my ranking and hopefully be able to return to the Top 8,” said Hendra a few days ago in an official PBSI release.
