Indonesian men’s doubles, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan will meet Taiwan doubles Lee Yang/Wang Chi-lin in the badminton semifinals Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Ahsan/Hendra will meet with Lee/Wang at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Friday (30/7). This match will determine whether or not The Daddies will reach the final in badminton.
Ahsan / Hendra qualified for the semifinals after defeating the Japanese pair, Takeshi Kamura / Keigo Sonoda. Ahsan/Hendra had to play three sets to win 21-14, 16-21, 21-9.
Ahsan/Hendra appeared solid in the first game. The senior doubles continued to gain points until they finally won 21-14 within 15 minutes.
In the second game the situation reversed. Kamura/Sonoda can take advantage of Ahsan/Hendra’s mistakes, which are often in a hurry to win 21-16. In the deciding game, Ahsan / Hendra did not repeat the mistake by quickly earning points and winning 21-9.
In another match, Lee/Wang impressed when they eliminated the fourth seed, Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe. Lee/Wang were able to win through two games with a score of 21-16,21-19.
After winning 21-16 in the first game, Lee/Wang was able to continue to excel in the second game. Lee/Wang led 11-8 in the second gym interval and then won 21-19.
Ahsan/Hendra vs Lee/Wang meeting will be the 11th meeting for both couples. So far, Ahsan/Hendra still excels with six wins and four losses.
However, Ahsan/Hendra swallowed the defeat in the last meeting against Lee/Wang in the BWF World Tour Finals 2020. Ahsan/Hendra lost in a two-game game with a score of 17-21, 21-23.
Meanwhile, the other semifinal will pit Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik against Li Junhui/Lui Yuchen. Aaron/Chia qualified for the semifinals after getting rid of Kevin Sanjaya/Marcus Gideon in the quarter-finals.
