Victor Ahn returned to Korea after the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, where he served as a coach for the Chinese national team, and taught juniors at his alma mater Korea National University of Physical Education.
Some of these players asked Viktor Ahn for guidance during the selection, and it is known that Viktor Ahn responded.

This is the first time Viktor An is active in Korea as a leader.
Viktor Ahn, who was Korea’s best short track speed skater, naturalized as a Russian citizen in 2011 and continued his career as an athlete.
Victor Ahn returned to Korea after the Beijing Olympics and applied to coach the ice team of the Seongnam City Hall Workplace Sports Department.
At the time, Victor Ahn suffered from a lot of criticism.
The Korean Skating Instructors Federation, which is suspected of being linked to a specific candidate, criticized Victor Ahn’s return, voicing that he received a lump sum pension at the time of naturalization.
In response, Viktor Ahn refuted by disclosing the pension receipt process and the fact that he donated the entire amount.
In addition, he said, “I will humbly accept the criticism that I have to choose naturalization.”
Seongnam City Hall’s return to coaching was canceled, but Victor Ahn did not stop his coaching activities.
He continued to work as an individual leader and helped his juniors.
Victor Ahn will begin his official activities on the 18th, when the first day of the short track national team selection will be held.
