Sergio Aguero is having heart problems. Can this make Aguero hang up his boots faster?
Barcelona drew 1-1 against Deportivo Alaves at Camp Nou last weekend. Aguero in this match was withdrawn in the 41st minute due to shortness of breath.
Aguero was immediately rushed to the hospital. He reportedly had a heart problem, called an arrhythmia or a heart rhythm disorder.
Aguero’s heart problems are certainly not as severe as those experienced by Chriatian Eriksen at Euro 2020. The Danish midfielder almost lost his life despite being able to carry out normal activities, but currently he is not allowed to return to playing football for an indefinite period of time.
An Argentine cardiologist, Norberto Debbag, gives an explanation to the public about what a heart arrhythmia means to an athlete.
“Arrhythmias can be studied in 24 hours, the diagnosis is already there. The most complicated is the ventricles because there is damage to the structure of the heart, while atrial arrhythmias are more benign, which can be resolved with drugs,” said Debbag as quoted from Marca.
“We don’t have details on Aguero but it won’t take long to find out, when he will play again will depend on the timing of the arrhythmia detected.”
Barcelona have just released a statement that Aguero will have to miss three months for heart treatment. It is not yet known whether he will be able to play again or not after that.
