Agro Rural: 2021 manuring and fertilization plan starts actions in Apurímac | News

The Ministry of Agrarian Development (Midagri), through Agro Rural, promotes family farming in the Apurímac region, where it will benefit 1,800 households with guano from the islands that have 1,200 hectares of their crops of potatoes, avocado, quinoa, corn and others, as part of the 2021 compost and fertilization plan.

The support is due to the high poverty rate in the Apurímac region (70.3%) and 29% and chronic child malnutritionFigures that make it necessary to promote organic agriculture as part of family farming.

So, from March to November, Agro Rural plans to serve 2,020 tons of guano from the islands to producers in the Apurímac region, in order to improve production chains in yield per crop with an organic tendency for greater acceptance in the local, national and international market.-

The guano distribution of the islands will be made through the three points of sale located in Abancay, Andahuaylas, Chincheros, as well as the itinerant warehouses, according to population and crop needs.

To date, 112 tons are served for the cultivation of avocado in the province of Chincheros, benefiting 140 families.

Productive chains

Within the strengthening of manuring and fertilization, it is planned to incorporate the region through the associations of small farmers of the Agrarian Defense Front of Apurímac (Fedra), which have committed 86.5 tons of guano from the islands and incorporated 150 tons of chicken manure ( fertilizer) to develop organic crops such as avocado, native potato and others.

Agro Rural has programmed the strengthening of capacities of local promoters in the potato and avocado production chains, which They will include 62 farmers from the Fedra in field schools (Eca), to improve the production process of the crop and its yield.
