Aggressive wasp eats bird | Inland

The bird, a white star beak, was a few days old. The other two babies in his nest were already dead. It is not known why they died. The scent of the leftovers may have attracted the wasp. He then plunged into the third bird, when the parents had gone for a while.

The wasp is the agelaia pallipes, which is found between Costa Rica and Argentina and is known for its aggressive behavior. Researchers already knew that the wasp eats crickets, moths, flies and rotting flesh of dead animals, but it was not yet known that it also consumes birds.
