Agfa raises printing plate prices again | Economy

Agfa-Gevaert announces a price increase for its printing plates for the third time in less than 10 months. The Belgian imaging company says in a press release that the scarcity of raw materials remains a problem.

Agfa already implemented price increases in April and August. The first time the company spoke of increases of 5 to 10 percent, the second time of increases “up to 10 percent”. Now it’s about “specific but double-digit price increases” from November 1.

Competition to stock aluminum and other raw materials has accelerated the cost increase, according to Agfa. Aluminum prices are at their highest level in 30 years. In addition, the logistical and operational costs have also skyrocketed.

Printing companies will be able to compensate for the price increases to a large extent by the higher price they receive for their aluminum waste, according to Agfa.
