Against gender violence, the Feltrinelli campaign for women

There are female writers Francesca Giannone e Valeria Parrella, the psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati and the philosopher Maura Gancitano and above all the books of Michela Murgia to act as a red thread for the month “Against gender violence”, a review of meetings, readings, initiatives and book presentations organized by Feltrinelli from February 13th to March 8th.

Four weeks that ideally accompany us from Valentine’s Day to Women’s Day and which will see some of the most representative voices of contemporary fiction and non-fiction “take to the field”. For example, activists Flavia Carlini e Cathy La Torrewith a panel dedicated to the theme “Rights and dissents”. While the writers Francesca Giannone (author of The postmanNord), Beatrice Salvioni (The evil one, Einaudi) and Aurora Thames (The surname of womenFeltrinelli) will reflect on the relationship between feminism and literary representation.

Massimo Recalcati instead he is the protagonist of a meeting on poetry and his exploration of the different forms of love starting from the book Not to you naked love, love poems chosen by Nicola Crocetti and Recalcati himself (Crocetti publisher). It’s still, Valeria Parrella will dialogue with Giada Biaggi e Bad comics on the reclamation of women’s identity.

During this themed month Feltrinelli bookstores throughout Italy will host more than forty presentations of new titles on the theme of gender violence, while the Feltrinelli venues in Padua and Verona and the Feltrinelli Foundation headquarters in Milan will be the stage for public readings of the books by Michela Murgia.

The initiatives in the bookshops are part of the Feltrinelli campaign “Reading teaches you to read“, which looks at reading as a tool for photographing and understanding reality and denouncing the stereotypes that threaten women’s freedoms, because after the murder of Giulia Cecchettin and the alarming data with which 2023 ended (every three days a woman was the victim of femicide) 2024 will not follow the same trend.

Not only. The Feltrinelli thematic month also extends to schools, with a series of meetings organized by First Effe. Feltrinelli for schooltogether with authors, in the high schools and institutes of Bitonto, Latina, Palermo and Rieti, which include, for example, Aurora Tamigio herself among the writers involved.

To close the initiative “Against gender violence” the8 March there will be the awards ceremony for the second edition of Inge Feltrinelli Award. Talking about the world, defending rightsdedicated to authors of books and photojournalistic investigations who have been able to make a difference on these issues.
