All affected employees are going on short-time work
The effects of the shortage of parts in Ingolstadt are even more extensive. On assembly line 1 (A4 / A5), production will be suspended from 23rd to 30th August in the early and late shifts. There is also no production on assembly line 2 (A3 / A4 / A5) from 23rd to 30th August in the early, late and permanent night shifts. The line is complete. The same applies to assembly line 3 (A3 / Q2). All affected employees are going on short-time work.
CFO has already forecast the chip crisis
When the financial results for the first half of the year were presented, CFO Jrgen Rittersberger predicted that the chip crisis will continue to cause Audi problems. From January to June, due to the lack of parts, the automaker was unable to build a mean five-digit number of vehicles – around 40,000 to 60,000 cars, Rittersberger explained in an interview with our newspaper . In the third quarter, Audi will be even more affected by the semiconductor shortage than before, said the CFO.

Meanwhile, the sales figures for July have been released. Accordingly, sales at Audi fell by 8.9 percent to 146,800 vehicles compared to the same month last year. In the year to date, the brand with the four rings has sold around 1.13 million units, 29.9 percent more than in 2020.
