After the outbreak of the corona mutation B117 in Berlin: Quarantine for Humboldt Clinic completely lifted – Berlin

The Humboldt Clinic in Berlin-Reinickendorf is no longer under quarantine – the large hospital can now be used again by fire and rescue services. The medical officer Patrick Larscheid confirmed this to the Tagesspiegel.

Operation on the wards should be gradually ramped up, only from Monday on should there be “urgent, plannable treatments to the full, permissible extent,” said Vivantes.

After an outbreak of the coronavirus variant B117, a complete large clinic was quarantined for the first time ten days ago in Berlin: an admission freeze was imposed on the hospital – around 2000 employees and patients. Now not only can new patients be admitted, but those who have already been treated in the clinic can also be moved.

The Humboldt Clinic is part of the state-owned Vivantes Group. The quarantine had already been relaxed for some employees and the psychiatry in the past few days. Individual infections with the B117 coronavirus, also known as the British mutation, had also been discovered in the Vivantes Clinic Spandau.

The Vivantes houses care for a third of all inpatients in Berlin – and also most of the Covid-19 cases. The number of B117 corona evidence in the two Vivantes clinics affected recently rose to 41: In Reinickendorf, 16 patients and 16 employees were infected, in Spandau six patients and three employees. Six of the infected patients from Reinickendorf died.

A neighbor and a relative of affected patients were also infected with the British virus mutation. Corresponding cases were also found at the Charité. Since the tests for mutation began a few weeks ago, seven inpatients at the university clinic have tested positive for the virus variant B117. There are also four such cases for outpatient samples.

Most recently, 54 infected people affected by the B117 mutation were identified by the state companies Vivantes and Charité alone. The two hospital groups jointly operate the “Labor Berlin”, which is responsible for testing corona samples.

Vivantes announced that there was no evidence of uncontrolled spread. The corona mutation B117 is considered a more contagious variant. In individual cases, the South African Corona variant was also discovered in Vivantes clinics: Researchers assume a longer incubation period for mutation B1351.
