After quarantine – marriage at the seaside: favorite places, one of which is already banned

Marriages in Palanga are more abundant

Palanga Civil Registry Office annually registers a little more than two hundred marriages. The head of this department is Žaneta Žulkuvienė 15min said marriages are likely to be more prevalent this year.

“During the summer, we will hardly be able to turn this year, because there are remarried marriages from last year, especially foreigners who could not come,” said the host.

According to her, in summer probably the main desire to get married outdoors – by the sea, in the park, in a pine forest.

“There are many beautiful places. This year, we have noticed an unusual number of such outgoing marriages. For one week we had only such marriages and only in the villa “Komoda”. We laughed that we were going there like work. The couples chose in the rose garden next to the villa, in their park.

My favorite other places are Birutė Park, both on Birutė Hill and on the small ground floor, where there is a conservatory. There is a small sculpture and a rose near it, a bit far from the Amber Museum, a really wonderful place, ”said Ž.Žulkuvienė.

Those who want to get married outdoors are not intimidated by the unpredictable seaside weather. The presenter says the newlyweds decide to take the risk and usually that risk really pays off.

“People take risks, they provide alternatives if the really bad weather, the wind, comes back to us in the hall, but, know how deliberately the sun shines at that moment,” Ž. Žulkuvienė said. – We had a marriage planned in the park’s rotunda. The rain poured out of the bucket, it was gray, we called, we asked the young people, what are we going to do? And they say – we looked through the app, the sun must shine. And really, half an hour later, the rain stopped raining. “

People take risks, they provide alternatives if the really bad weather comes back to us in the hall, but, know how deliberately the sun is shining at that moment.

Registruos Kurhauze

This season the newlyweds will be able to get married in Kurhaus as well. One couple already had such an opportunity to register their marriage at this location. Another couple has expressed a desire to marry in July.

Currently, Kurhaus has been transferred from the municipality to the Palanga Culture and Youth Center.

“It will be a popular place, we have no doubt about it, because we receive a lot of calls, but the employment has to be coordinated with the Kurhaus administration so that other events do not take place,” the chairwoman said.

Palanga City Council should approve the rates according to which Kurhaus will operate, halls will be rented, etc. in the near future. Newlyweds will also have to pay for the use of the marriage hall. Preliminary price – about 120 euros. A further € 60 will be charged for the outbound service of civil registry staff.

Both on board and on the pier

There will be no shortage of newlyweds this season in the Curonian Spit. Edita Vaičiūnienė, Head of the Civil Registration Division of Neringa Municipality 15min stated that there are several places on the Curonian Spit that newlyweds especially like. There are also original spaces discovered by the newlyweds themselves.

“The places remain about the same, one of them is the parking lot next to Tom Mano’s house, where there is an Italian view. It is one of the most popular, cozy and suitable places for this occasion. He also chooses another place – on the pier of the Curonian Lagoon. I would say quite appropriate because it is possible to manage the flow of holidaymakers, because it is really difficult in summer in Neringa with the flow of people.

We don’t get to the sea at that time, because it’s not fun among vacationers, but the newlyweds choose entertainment spaces such as the “Dome”. There by the sea prepares a platform, an arch, as the newlyweds wish. They are also getting married at the Preila rescue station, there is a possibility to rent a festive space for the event, ”said E.Vaičiūnienė.

According to the hostess, newlyweds have their own story, choose places related to their love, matchmaking, dating.

“I am also married at the lighthouse, on board. It has an interesting attraction. I remember we sailed to the great dune, the ship anchored, performed the ceremony and transported me, and the guests continued to sail. It is both entertainment for guests and a ceremony in a beautiful, unique place, ”said the host.

Metric staff usually have a flexible view of newlyweds ’chosen locations. It is true that E.Vaičiūnienė says that in extremely remote places, where it is necessary to travel on the dunes, efforts are made not to register marriages, because there is simply no possibility to devote so much time to one couple.

At the sundial – insurance

Although the Parnidis dune with a sundial was not the most popular place for marriages, it is generally forbidden to register marriages here this season. Such a decision was made by the Neringa Council in the spring.

According to E.Vaičiūnienė, this was decided by protecting the dune in order to control flows and transport. There is never a shortage of visitors on the dune, especially during the summer season.

“It is very difficult to organize a celebration here due to constant movement and excursions. The symbolism was simply abandoned – the sundial is intended for review, not for walking around the dunes for guests, wedding guests.

There was a constant question for other people as to why someone was climbing the dunes and they couldn’t. In order to protect nature, it was decided not to do it there, there are more areas that are more suitable, ”the chairwoman said.

This place also becomes problematic due to winds that make the celebration more difficult when signing documents.

“This year, Neringa’s interest is really bigger, maybe last year she felt that she was more interested, and this year we are married all working days, not just on Saturday. There are marriages scheduled for different working days throughout the summer. Only so much that there is a lack of celebration places in Neringa.

Maybe there would be even more traffic if it were possible to book nights and a holiday. Nobody wants to rent accommodation for a few days, they often want to rent for at least a week, ”said Neringiškė.

According to the woman, the Curonian Spit is associated with a certain exoticism for many Lithuanians, so this place also seems very symbolic for marriage.

“Neringa as a foreign country – beyond the sea lagoon, when arriving here you have to cross to the other shore, more exotic”, – smiles E.Vaičiūnienė.
