The 38-year-old racer in the colors of the Mladá Boleslav carmaker won six of his seven Czech titles, became the world champion in the WRC2 category, the European champion and also won the Asia-Pacific series.

“We can already confirm that next year the Škoda Motorsport factory team will not drive the Czech Republic championship and therefore Jan Kopecký will not represent the factory colors either. However, we have a valid contract with Jan and will continue with us as a test driver,” said team boss Michal Hrabánek in the press release.
Kopecký has been a member of the team since 2009 and is a sign of most success in recent years, while also developing and testing Škoda Fabia specials of various specifications. “For next year, on the occasion of the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Škoda brand in motorsport, we decided to support more and more private drivers starting with Škoda Fabia rally2 and rally2 evo cars through authorized business partners,” said Hrabánek.
One of them should be Kopecký, who wants to start in the private team in the Czech Republic championship. This year, he finished second to Václav Pech, who ended Kopecký’s five-year domination in the shortened championship. Due to coronavirus, only three domestic championships took place this season.
