On September 27, the People’s Court of Vinh Long province opened a first instance trial and sentenced defendant LHL (17 years old, residing in Tan Hanh commune, Long Ho district, Vinh Long province) to 15 years in prison for murder.
According to the indictment, on January 29, because he defended his friend, LHL used a helmet to hit DVDVD (16 years old) on the shoulder. At about 3:10 p.m. on the same day, LHL was drinking coffee at a shop in Cai Ke hamlet, My Phuoc commune, Mang Thit district, when D., his father, DVL, and 4 other people came to find LHL to talk.
When he went to the front of the shop, LHL saw many people on D.’s side, so he used a switchblade to stab D. in the chest, leading to his death. In addition, LHL also used a knife to injure Mr. L. (5%) and 3 other people.
