The highest body between congresses claimed, in the resolution, communication difficulties between the Free administration and the deputy, as well as not having accepted indications, for example, regarding the State Budget and its voting in general.
Party founder Rui Tavares, a member of the Assembly, voted in favor of the resolution in that body and at the congress he voted to postpone the decision in relation to political confidence in Joacine Katar Moreira, alongside the deputy and Ricardo Sá Fernandes.
On Saturday, Joacine Katar Moreira said that he sees the postponement as “a vote of confidence” and today admitted to making the compromises that “are necessary” to improve relations, if the party organs do the same.
For its part, the Contact Group (management) replied that, if “due to a miraculous act, there is a change of attitude on the part of the deputy”, it is willing to work with Joacine Katar Moreira in the future.
After the congressmen approved 14 motions – with themes from ecology to experimentalism in the internal organization -, the new bodies were elected.
The secret vote for the Contact Group (management), the Jurisdiction Council and the Assembly took place on Saturday, throughout the day, and today the results were announced.
The only lists competing for the Contact Group and the Jurisdiction Council were elected with 95 votes, out of 110 possible, and 66 votes out of a total of 109.
Of the 15 members that make up the board, eight are new. At the end of the congress, the Contact Group underlined that “the congress voted for continuity” of people and ideas.
Joacine Katar Moreira, who in this mandate is no longer a member of the Contact Group (or any other body), did not vote. On the other hand, Rui Tavares and Ricardo Sá Fernandes were re-elected in the Assembly and in the Jurisdiction Council, respectively.
The only time that Joacine Katar Moreira addressed Rui Tavares was during the period of discussion of motions, this morning, despite the fact that the two were seated a few places away, it was not possible to understand what they were talking about.
To the journalists, the founder of Livre did not want to reveal the content of the conversation, noting that he would not talk about “private conversations, not even private conversations that are more for photography”.
