The Berlin Bundesliga club Hertha BSC and 1. FC Union will meet for the third time this season. The Köpenicker had reached the round of the best 16 with a 3-1 win after extra time at third division Waldhof Mannheim. Hertha had progressed a round with a 3-1 win at the regional league team Preußen Münster.

“It’s not a long journey, but unfortunately not a home game”, said Union manager Oliver Ruhnert in a first reaction. “Surely a lot of people will be looking forward to a derby and so we will approach the game like any other and try to get through one round.”

Hertha’s trainer Pal Dardai sounded a little more euphoric. “A dream lot and a holiday for Berlin. That would have been a nice final too. We will do everything we can to ensure that this is a special evening for all Herthaers,” he said.
