Last year, GroenLinks, D66 and PvdA filed a motion to reduce the nuisance caused by burning wood in the capital Drenthe by providing a scrap premium for stoves and a subsidy for filters to reduce emissions. The city council of Assen presented two detailed options to the city council last week: a more expensive variant (€ 260,000) with subsidies and workshops as proposed in the motion, but also a cheaper variant (€ 35,000) with information only. The unclear discussion on this ultimately led to none of the proposals being successful and the hand was held tight.
