“After a tough year we rose from the ashes like a phoenix”

#Interview

How did Localyze go in 2021? “We actually exceeded our targets three times, with such rapid growth and a tenfold increase in sales we did not expect at the beginning of the year”, says founder Hanna Asmussen.

Localyze from Hamburg, founded in 2018 by Hanna Asmussen, Lisa Dahlke and Franzi Löw, supports “companies with challenges related to the global mobility of employees”. This means all processes related to topics such as relocation, visa extensions and transfers between branches. Blossom Capital, Frontline Ventures and several angel investors have recently invested USD 12 million in the young company.

In an interview with deutsche-startups.de, Localyze maker Asmussen spoke briefly about the year that was almost over.

2021 is almost over. What was the highlight for you this year?
Our Series A, because after a tough 2020 we rose from the ashes like a phoenix and were able to grow even faster.

How did 2021 go economically for you – did you all achieve your goals?
We even exceeded our targets three times; we did not expect such rapid growth and a tenfold increase in sales at the beginning of the year.

What was not going well for you in 2021?
The communication – we tried too long to continue as we did with 15 people, so some things fell by the wayside and we had to create structures quickly.

Which project is at the top of your agenda for 2022?
The international expansion – we will reveal where everything is going in a few months!

The German startup scene is currently experiencing a huge boom. What is your view of this absolute high phase?
I welcome you, because even if a lot of money in the market makes it tempting to scale before Product Market Fit, it is still necessary to convince more people of the reason. The increasing number of available role models will hopefully make the startup scene even more accessible, and hopefully also more diverse.
