“It’s good to remember that romantic love is a myth, and it’s pretty dangerous,” Thompson said in an interview with the Radio Times. “We really have to take it with a grain of salt. Thinking wisely about love and how it can grow is essential.” She continues: “Long-term relationships are extremely complicated. If anyone thinks that “and they live happily ever after” exists… Forget it.”
A special note. Because Emma Thompson has been married to Greg Wise for years now, with whom she has two children. They met on the set of ‘Sense and Sensibility’, the film adaptation of Jane Austen’s book. During the recordings, Thompson tried to pair her younger co-star Kate Winslet with Wise. But she already thought that Emma Thompson and Greg Wise would be a much better match. And she was right about that.

Still, the Oscar-winning actress has had her fair share of heartbreak in the past. She was cheated on by her first husband, Kenneth Branagh. The two met in 1987 while filming the BBC drama ‘Fortunes of War’. In 1989 they tied the knot and became the golden couple of British cinema. But when Branagh met Helena Bonham Carter while filming ‘Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’ in 1994, he began an affair with her. Emma and Kenneth divorced in 1995, although he continued to date Miss Bonham Carter until 1999. Thompson has been down for a long time. “So many times I cried alone in my bedroom and then had to go out and be merry, get my heart back together and pretend nothing was wrong.”
