Jason ‘Jay’ Mizell, better known as Jam Master Jay, was murdered on October 30, 2002 in his recording studio in Queens. The 37-year-old musician was shot in the head by a masked assailant, police said at the time. He left behind a wife and three children. The case was never resolved.
Eighteen years later, two men have finally been arrested, Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr. for Mizell’s murder, two law enforcement officers, who speak on condition of anonymity, say. Although the exact role of the men in the murder is not yet clear, it is suspected that a drug deal got out of hand
Washington is currently serving a prison sentence for theft. Jordan was taken into custody on Sunday and has previously been convicted of shooting Mizell’s cousin.
