Afghanistan lost the first match of the three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka by 42 runs. Even though the match was lost, the Afghan players showed good fighting spirit.

Nabi was also able to achieve a record after this impressive performance. Nabi became the oldest player to score a century in ODI cricket. Nabi achieved this brilliant achievement at the age of 39. Nabi surpassed cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 381 runs. In the Lankan batting line-up, Pathum Nisanka scored a double tour and performed well. Nisanka scored an unbeaten 210 off 139 balls. He hit 20 fours and eight sixes.
In reply, Afghanistan scored 339 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. Apart from Muhammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 149 runs not out in 15 balls but could not lead the team to victory.
