Now it’s bang again. McDonald’s has sued Steve Easterbrook, 53. The divorced father of three and former head of the US fast food chain was kicked out in November 2019. Because of a romance at work.

The mess with a McDonald’s employee was amicable, but violated the strict guidelines of the large company. “That was a mistake,” the Wall Street Journal quoted from an email from Easterbrook. “Given the company’s values, I agree with the board that it is time for me to move on.”

Easterbrook is silent
Now it comes out: During his four years at McDonald’s, Easterbrook had not just one, but several affairs at work – and that’s why he is now facing a lawsuit. The complaint published on Monday shows that he also had other relationships with the company and lied about them.

McDonald’s now wants to reverse the multi-million dollar severance package that Easterbrook had received when it was terminated in November.

Did an ex-Easterbrook whistle?
The lawsuit was apparently triggered by an anonymous tip. The investigation that was then initiated revealed, among other things, that a share package worth several hundred thousand dollars had been approved for one or one of the employees of Easterbrook during the relationship, McDonald’s explains. Easterbrook initially did not comment on the lawsuit on Monday.
