CelebritiesThe American rock band Aerosmith announces that lead singer Steven Tyler (74) is admitted to a rehab clinic to work on his alcohol problem. In a statement on social media, the band thanked fans for supporting Steven during this time. “He volunteered to be admitted.”

The statement reads that the singer has worked for years to get rid of his addiction. However, the problems returned after he had surgery on his foot. “Steven has voluntarily entered a treatment program to focus on his health and recovery,” it read on Instagram. Band members Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford say Tyler can now focus on his well-being.

Because Tyler is in rehab, the band is forced to reschedule some of their performances in Las Vegas. “We will inform fans of further updates as soon as possible. People who have bought a ticket will get their money back,” the band said. “We are devastated that we harassed so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows.”

Tyler is the father of four grown children – Liv (44), Mia (43), Chelsea (33) and Taj (31) – and has been in a relationship with his former personal assistant Aimee Preston since 2016. It’s not the first time he’s gotten into trouble with alcohol and drugs. Also in 1988, the singer was admitted to a rehab clinic on the advice of his band members. “It took me many years to get over the anger that they sent me to rehab while they were on vacation,” Tyler said in 2019. “But today, because of that moment, I’m grateful to them for my sobriety.”
