“In the evening, when it’s time, I don’t want the day to end,” breathes Charlotte, 32. Mother of two children, “Chacha” as her classmates call her, joined the Skills Preparation on April 19. After experiences in catering, then in sales, Charlotte stopped working to devote herself to her children.
“The problem is that I was coming to the end of my RSA and my Pôle Emploi adviser offered me the continuing education centre, but I didn’t have enough self-confidence. To rediscover a taste for learning, she is directed to the Skills Preparation, provided by the National Agency for Adult Vocational Training (Afpa).

Charlotte then launches into the building, like her husband. “At first, people laughed at me because I wanted to try out a man’s job. But in the end, I prefer to work with guys. They are more respectful! There’s more support too. »
Now experienced in the exercise, the mother of the family is conquered by the profession: “When I come home, I am exhausted. But it’s a good physical fatigue, I like it! The various support provided by the Competence Preparation helped Charlotte gain self-confidence.
During school hours, 10 workshops are offered, spread over 8 to 12 weeks. The beneficiaries of the device can work on different aspects: “There are French and maths lessons, digital aids, exercises on memorization and concentration. The aim is to guide them so that they can pursue their projects”, explains Sandra Salmon, pre-integration trainer at Afpa.
Decisive encounters
As at school, “Chacha” was able to count on his new friendships. Angélique, 26, also arrived on April 19. She is preparing for training as an accounting secretary. “I wanted to check that I could get started. Because initially, I don’t like math,” she smiles. Through the corridors, the two women hail each other, always delighted to meet. “Angelique, I owe him a lot. Without her, I wouldn’t have lasted at the beginning. You don’t say to yourself by coming here that you’re going to make friends. We will stay in touch! says Charlotte.
The Skills Preparation scheme now has 10 beneficiaries. It is aimed at many profiles, as Sandra Salmon explains: “There are long-term researchers, retraining, reintegration after incarceration… And all ages too! A six-month follow-up was set up at the start of the year. “For example, we are helping one of our alumnae expand her professional network. »
After 8 to 12 weeks, the beneficiaries are accompanied to Pôle emploi, to present their training projects to the funding committee.
