Administrative proceedings initiated for possible violations of restrictive measures at two music festivals The news

Riga, August 13, LETA. The State Police (VP) has initiated administrative violation proceedings regarding possible violations of Covid-19 containment measures, which may have been detected at the music festivals “Sword and Lemess” and “Baldones Waterfest” that took place last weekend, the VP told LETA.

Videos distributed on social media show a significant crowd at both festivals.

The Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) told LETA that the police were competent to assess irregularities, but reminded the center of the recommendations introduced for epidemiological safety, including distance travel.

In this case, with regard to the materials published on social media, where a large number of people are crowded, the SPKC noted that observing the distance is not only the responsibility of the event organizer, but also the visitors. Accordingly, when attending an event, visitors should consider all risk factors, including their state of health or recent travel abroad, as well as the presence of co-morbidities that could lead to a more severe disease in the event of a Covid-19 infection.

“Even when going to the event, the visitor has to evaluate what is happening – if there is a crowding, then you should not go to the crowd,” explained Ilze Arāja, a representative of the SPKC. However, at the same time, excessive crowding and non-observance of distance at the event is also the responsibility of the organizer, the center added.

When attending public events, the SPKC recommends downloading the “Stop Covid” app, which will let you know more quickly if you have been in contact with a Covid-19 patient and can help epidemiologists identify contacts more quickly. Using the app will allow you to isolate yourself in a more timely manner so as not to endanger family, colleagues, friends and other residents.
