The pandemic has highlighted and accentuated the precarious conditions of existence of culture. A whole chain of actor and actress, from artist to technique, including administration and catering. Aware that maintaining the subsidies will not be enough, the canton of Valais has decided to compensate the musical directors and organists of song and music societies for their loss of salary, the weekly bulletin of the Council of State tells us.
Until September 20 to benefit from coverage of 80% of salary
As a subsidiary measure to other federal and cantonal aid under Covid-19, singing and music companies may benefit from compensation amounting to 80% of salaries (excluding social charges) for the loss hours of work for their director and organist for the period from March 16 to June 30, 2020.
Compensation must be paid by the association and not by the municipality, parish or a third party. A formal request must be filed by September 20, 2020 with the Culture Department.
The necessary information and forms will be available on its website (www.vs.ch/culture) from September 1, 2020.
