Adata Showcases PCIe 5.0 SSD With Integrated Fan – Computers – News

Taiwanese memory maker Adata unveiled a PCIe 5.0 SSD featuring both a heat sink and integrated fan at CES. The SSD achieves a sequential read speed of 14GB/s. Sequential write speeds are 12GB/s.

The SSD has a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and uses the NVMe 2.0 protocol. It also uses the SM2508 Silicon Motion controller also provided by Adata previous prototypes of PCIe 5.0 SSDs. According to the hardware information the ssd will use 3d nand tlc memory. 3D NAND uses chips with stacked layers.

The promotional materials state that the PCIe 5.0 SSD has both a heat sink and a fan to dissipate heat. It’s not clear how many rotations per minute the fan can perform at its maximum. Patriot Memory, another memory maker, also showed off at CES PCIe 5.0 SSD shown which has similar active cooling. Adata has not yet announced when and at what prices the PCIe 5.0 SSD will be sold. Hardware Information reports that the SSD will be available in versions up to 8TB.
