Over 2000 community players take part in a massive battle
A few days ago, an event took place in the EVE Online space MMO game, during which more than 2000 players gathered in one place and took part in a huge battle in honor of the birthday of a player with an incurable cancer. Chappy78, 42, watched various alliances sacrifice their expensive ships and, in an interview with PC Gamer, admitted that this was an unforgettable experience.
After learning about a relapse of the disease, Chappy78 decided to spend the birthday of the game, travel to different locations and take part in interesting battles. Other players after posting a message on the forum confirmed their participation in the event, which turned into a huge battle. The birthday man said that he wanted to transport valuable things on his birthday, but accidentally ended up in a hostile place where strong ships often attack weak ones. But he was waiting for a pleasant surprise, as Chappy78 offered an escort to their destination, and then to the point where the battle party took place, some of which can be seen in the video.
The event was attended by so many players that the developers had to increase the server capacity and enable the Time Dilation function, which slows down the battle so that there are no technical problems. In the end, Chappy78 asked everyone to attack and destroy his ship in order to keep the names of the players in the death log.
