Mexico City, June 24, 2022. Actress Sharon Stone shared that she experienced nine miscarriages and assured that it is a feeling that women have had to endure alone and in secret for years.
“I lost nine children to miscarriage. It is not a small thing, neither physically nor emotionally, but we are made to feel that it is something that we must endure alone and in secret with a kind of sense of failure. Instead of receiving the compassion, empathy and healing that we so badly need.
“Female health and wellness left in the care of male ideology has become lax at best, ignorant in fact, and violently oppressive in its endeavor,” she told People.
Stone had previously gone public with her miscarriages in 2017, which were the result of autoimmune disease and endometriosis, Extra TV reported at the time.
Last year, Stone praised personalities such as Chrissy Teigen and Vanessa Kirby, who have been able to speak out about issues of loss and distress, rape and brutalization and other situations women face, in an interview with BBC Radio’s Woman’s Hour.
“We as women don’t have a forum to discuss the depth of this loss.”
