Actress, comedian and American icon Betty White has died, just weeks before her 100th birthday.

According to TMZ her sources in the police she died in her own home Friday morning. She turned 99 years old and was to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 17, 2022. Her friend and agent Jeff Witjas confirms the death, skriver The Washington Post.

Los Angeles police were notified of a death investigation at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning. writes Variety.

White had the longest career in television as a woman before her death. She has starred in a number of TV series over the past nine decades.

She is perhaps best known for her leading role as Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls” which was shown from 1985 to 1992. For this role she was nominated for an Emmy a number of times, and in 1986 she ran away with the statuette just as well.

On Thursday, White said actor Ryan Reynolds could not stop thinking about her. writes CNN.

The two starred in the movie “The Proposal” in 2009, and since then Reynolds has called White his ex-girlfriend.

Started with radio program

White started with radio in the 40’s, and appeared on “Blondie”, “The Great Gildersleeve” and “This is Your FBI”. Eventually she got her own radio program.

In 1949, she began working on a TV series with Al Jarvis called “Hollywood on Television” – for which she later hosted.

Her major role came in 1973 when she played Sue Ann Nivens in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” which went to 1977. Then she got her lead role in “The Betty White Show”.

She has had 115 roles as an actress, and has had roles in programs such as “Life with Elizabeth”, “Date with the Angels”, “The Love Boat” and “That ’70s Show”.

White has received numerous awards throughout his career, including several Emmy statuettes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, American Comedy Awards and a Grammy.

She has been nominated for several Golden Globes and has also been honored with many Lifetime Achievement Awards.

For a younger audience, she made a name for herself as a presenter in her own hidden camera program “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” with guest appearances from, among others, Kim Kardashian. The program led to her last three Emmy nominations.

And in 2010 she won another Emmy, then for her performance as a guest host on “Saturday Night Live”. She won a total of five Emmy statuettes.
