The Surinamese news site Starnieuws has just reported that also acting governor of the Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS), Ingeborg Geduld-Nijman, would have submitted her letter of resignation. According to the site, she would have committed acts that cannot be accepted.
It was announced yesterday that governor Robert-Gray van Trikt has submitted his resignation letter. He would thereby give the Supervisory Board the opportunity to investigate alleged irregularities at the Bank that would have taken place as governor under his brief administration. That investigation is still ongoing.
In February 2019, Ingeborg Geduld-Nijman temporarily took the place of governor, following the resignation of the previous governor Glenn Gersie. She has been one of the directors of the Central Bank so far. What exactly is going on around Geduld-Nijman is not yet clear.
According to Starnieuws, there would have been anti-dating of the loan that the governor took for buying a car.
