Acer refreshes Predator lines with new RTX Series 30 graphics

The renovation is extraordinary and transversal: the entire Acer portfolio receives the new RTX Series 30 graphics with Ampere architecture. Graphics thus arrive at the Acer Predator Triton, Nitro, Orion and Helios, both desktop and portable.

On board we obviously find the latest 11th generation Intel Core up to Intel Core i7 and the Acer Predator Nitro now offers Ryzen 9 5900.

Towers, large illuminated towers

If you are gaming purists and look at notebooks sideways, towers are your favorite option, and Acer revealed a total of 3, these being the Acer Predator Orion 3000 and the Acer Predator Nitro 50 in Intel and AMD flavors.

In the case of Intel options, we may have processors up to 11th generation Intel Core i7, or the aforementioned Ryzen 9 5900, while the choice of graphics starts with GTX options, and enters RTX with the RTX 2060, and can go up to an RTX 3070, passing through an RTX 3060 Ti. Only the Orion 300 can receive the RTX 3070, while the Nitro get the 3060 Ti and, to start playing seriously, they can even go for a GeForce GTX 1650 or a 1660 SUPER.

As for RAM, 16GB of DDR4 at 3200Hz is what’s on the table, but you can expand it up to 64GB, while the disks split into 3TB HDD or 1TB SSD options in either tower.

Physically the towers are quite different, with Orion having a predominant RGB lighting with exposed interior, while the Nitro are more simplified.

This explains some price differential, with the Acer Predator Orion 300 starting at €949, while the Nitro 50 starting at €799.

Do you know what these towers will combine superbly with? With one of the new Predaor monitors and the Predator Cestus 335 mouse, an impressive 10-button competition mouse with a 2000Hz sampling rate.

As for monitors, in all, Acer has made three monitors official with something for everyone, including HDR across the family. We have the Predator CG437K, the Predator X38S and the Predator X28.

The smallest is obviously the X28, at 28 inches, and offers a refresh rate of 155Hz and a Delta E<1, so it could be an interesting option for creatives, for whom faithful colors are important.

The Predator X38 grows in size with its 37.5-inch curves and UWQHD+ resolution with a 175Hz refresh rate and a dizzying 0.3 second G-to-G.

Finally, for those who want full immersion and have a garage for it, the CG437KS offers 42.5 inches UHD, with connection for 4K playback at 144Hz from consoles.

racing stallions

OK, but don’t want to walk with the turrets behind? Then there’s the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE and the Acer Predator Helios 500, a spec beast that reaches 3.98Kg.

Both come with the latest Intel Core processors up to an i9-11900H in the case of the Triton 500 SE, or an even more impressive i9-11980HK in the Helios 500.

While both will have options with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 and 3070, interestingly it is the Triton 500 SE that takes the cake with a 3080.

Why does the Helios 500 weigh so much more? Good because it gives us a 17.3″ miniLED 3K UHD display with 120Hz refresh rate or else a 165Hz QHD, plus a 360Hz FHD.

Acer Predator Helios 500

The Acer Predator Triton 500 SE is smaller, at 16 inches, and gets a 2560 x 1600 WQXGA unit with a 165Hz refresh rate.

Without a doubt that the Acer Predator Helios 500 is the top of the range, Acer has equipped it with an advanced cooling system with three 5th generation AeroBlade and WASD keys with pressure sensitive MagTek switches.

On the connectivity side, in addition to WiFi 6 and Ethernet, we have optional 5G, which is frankly flawless so we can play anywhere with the best possible connection. Triton, in turn, has no option for 5G technology.

So how much do you expect to pay for this equipment? The Acer Predator Triton 500 SE will be available from €1999, while the Acer Predator Helios 500 will be priced at €2499. Laptops will be available in June, but towers won’t arrive until October, so start collecting money.
