Aceituno also won gold with a mark of 551 kilograms, which was the sum of his three valid attempts, surpassing in this fight the Thai Amorntep Pongsao, who achieved 485 kilograms, and Stanislav Shakiyev, from Kazakhstan, who closed with 344.

“I am happy to start 2024 on the right foot, the important thing was to be in the ranking and obtaining these two medals gives us the satisfaction that a good job has been done. The expectations that we had with Jorge López were met and we know that all the rivals are strong,” is how Herbert Aceituno summarized his first participation of the year.

In the -59 kilogram category, 10 para-athletes competed, from Kazakhstan, Algeria, Malaysia, Korea, Iraq, Solomon Islands and Thailand.

“I felt safe in the three attempts, everything we had been working on with Jorge happened and we met expectations; The two medals motivate us to keep going. We arrived in El Salvador on Sunday and on Monday we return to training for the World Cup and Parapan American Cup in Acapulco, Mexico,” explained the top Salvadoran parapowerlifting figure, who with this result will appear in the top 5 of the world ranking in the -59 kilogram category. .

For his part, Mustafa Radhi was left with 205 kilograms and the gold metal of the category since his two other attempts of 212 kilograms did not receive the approval of the judges. The Kazakh parathlete started with 171 kilos and managed to get on the podium with 173 kilos in his third lift.

“It was a very good competition for us, things went as we had talked about, the important thing was to score and the medals are a plus. We are already heading to Paris 2024 and next week we travel to Mexico and there we complete the qualification route,” said coach Jorge López.
