Around 13,000 euros in property damage occurred in a traffic accident on Hansastraße in Unna. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the crash. The incident is likely to have significant consequences for the perpetrator: He was apparently drunk.
As the police press office confirmed, the accident occurred on Monday evening, shortly after 7 p.m. The 36-year-old from Unna drove his car on Hansastraße from Unna in the direction of Massen. Shortly after the motorway underpass, the car turned right off the lane and rammed a parked Mercedes. The police reported witnesses who heard the clash.
The driver himself said on record that he could not explain why he had gotten onto the hard shoulder. His breath, however, gave the officers a clue: the smell of alcohol caused the police officers to let the driver blow into a test device – with a positive result, as the police now reported.
According to the result of the breath test, there is probably already a criminal offense in the room, not an administrative offense, according to the press office. A blood sample taken from the man after the accident must give a reliable result.
In any case, this was reason enough to take his driver’s license away from him on the evening of the accident and forbid him to continue driving.
