Kottayam: M.C. A couple died when a lorry lost control on the road and hit a scooter. Sudarshan (67) and his wife Shailaja (60) died at their house in Pallam Mangalapuram. The accident took place in Maryapally at around 1 pm on Friday. They were coming from Pallatu towards Maryapally. At this time, the lorry coming from the opposite direction lost control and hit a car and then a scooter.

Shailaja was thrown on the road by the impact and died instantly. Sudarshan was rushed to the Kottayam District General Hospital and later to the Medical College Hospital with serious injuries but could not be saved.
It is suspected that the driver of the lorry fell asleep to cause the accident. Chingawanam police registered a case.
