For Nathan Marsh (26) it did not end particularly well.
It must have been his fiancée Bethan Lewis Watling (24) who asked him to help vacuum in their home in Wales, UK.
Should vacuum
According to her, Nathan has never been a fan of housework.
But now she had convinced him to vacuum “for the first time”, she tells the news website National World.
National World is part of JPI media, which is one of the UK’s leading regional media organizations. Other titles under JPI are The Scotsman, Yorkshire Post, Falkirk Herald and Belfast’s The News Letter.
He must have been tied into the cord from the vacuum cleaner, and could not walk. Bethan says he also complained of severe pain.
It turned out that Nathan must have tripped over the cord while handling the vacuum cleaner.
– At first I did not believe in him. I thought he was trying to get away with more housework. I had even warned him to be careful around the wire, in case he should fall, she tells National World.
Set of 1.6 million
Bethan has shared a video of the incident TikTok, which has been viewed 1.6 million times. Here she says that both the ambulance and the fire brigade moved out to help him.
– I did not think the video would explode in this way, she says.
She tells National World that Nathan was taken to Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Wales for an X-ray. There they are said to have discovered that he broke two bones in the fall – the shin bone and the calf bone.
–
– He is fine, and has been told to keep the bed. He lives like a king now, he has a toilet seat in the living room, and gets food and drink to order, she says in a follow-up video.
Here she brags about the ambulance workers who came to the place.
– One of the health personnel was fantastic. She did everything to ease his pain until they arrived at the hospital.
But getting him to the hospital was no easy task either. The house the couple lives in has a very narrow entrance with corners that make it impossible to lift a stretcher out in the normal way.
– It was not possible to get him out of the house without causing more damage. The ambulance worker decided to call the fire department for help.
They must have discussed taking the glass out of the window and getting him out that way.
–
– But luckily they took him out with their legs straight up in the air. They were amazing. After a long day, he got to the emergency room, she says.
Gets simple tasks
There they were told that he had broken two bones in his foot.
The accident is said to have happened in August, and Nathan spent a full four weeks in bed. It took another two weeks before he had to remove the cast, Bethan told National World.
Now, however, he will be back on his feet, and Bethan has made him take part in the housework again. But this time she gives him only simple tasks, such as dusting.
